DECEMBER, 2004

This week I'm in Adelaide, two nights at Eagle On The Hill and Sunday there is an outdoor concert at Eagle On The Hill with Ian Moss and a couple of local bands. See the Tours Page for further details. I'm bringing my band across from Sydney, I hope you enjoy them, I think they kick arse.

I am also recording in Adelaide. I have been asked to do an acoustic version of "If I were a Carpenter". Just acoustic guitars, bass and slide sort of Ben Harper style. Hopefully the record company will release this gem. Check out Mornings with Kerrie Ann on Friday 3rd December, 2004. I will be performing the above song.

If you are in Sydney, 2WS-FM have been playing a lot of my back product and are just about to start playing a few of the newer tracks for you guys. So start requesting and acknowledging the fact that they are playing Australian Rock (REAL MUSIC!).

If you don't know, I have moved to Hope Island, Queensland and will be holding Master Classes in Vocal Tuition at Guitar Central in Brisbane, so if you are in town, ring and book a place. Guitar Central really support its local talent. Details below

You may have seen an article in the 20th Aniversary edition of the Good Weekend in the Sydney Morning Herald. If not here is the link to read it Good Weekend. A very candid interview between Jim and myself on growing up together. Do you realise how hard it is to put into words the love and respect you have for your little brothers. Suffice to say they are both treasures.

I should be heading around the country just after Christmas with my band before I start touring with Jim and the family in March. It should be a hoot. I recorded a duet with him in Melbourne a few months ago called "What Will They Say".

I love it, it gives us such a great opportunity to sing together. I forgot what a buzz it was having such a great singer as a little brother. Actually I have two great singers as brothers. My other brother Alan will probably be doing a track with me on my album. Look out we are coming to get you.

Virginia, my wife and I hope you have a very very Merry Christmas, my love to you and your families. If you are driving anywhere, travel safe and stay off the turps.

OCTOBER, 2004

I have just returned from Melbourne where I was recording for the family album. The album that my brother Jimmy Barnes is releasing with his children and brother-in-law Mark Lizotte (Diesel). He thought this would be a good opportunity for us to do something together. We chose a song written by Darren and Denis from "Disco Montego". They are two hot young producer/artists from Melbourne who are great singers in their own right and two of the nicest guys I have met.

They have been friends of Jimmy's daughter Mahalia for years. They play, sing, produce and have the best fun in the studio. (They're HOT!). It was a couple of the best days I've ever had. Warren Costello from Liberation Music was there too and we all had the best laugh together. I love the song that Jim and I recorded together. The style was a nice change for us. It was just like when we were younger the harmonies are so close and the feeling is so real. Jim's daughters all contributed to this album, doing their own material and songs they love.

I was singing away on Saturday after I had been to visit my father in Geelong, he is very sick with Emphysema and I looked into the control room and Mahalia was sitting at the desk all grown up and beautiful. My heart was so full of pride and love. The album will be released in November and we will tour later in the year. In the meantime I'm working on my own stuff and it's coming along quite nicely.

Ginny and I are moving to Queensland, and are buying a place on Hope Island. If you are ever up that way swim over and say hello (only joking). We leave in a few days, I'll keep you posted.
